Highland Springs Ranch & Inn’s lavender field is now open!
Spring is a glorious time of year; every inch of the city is covered with beautiful blooms and the stunning outdoor landscapes beg to be enjoyed. While the fleeting floral scents and vivid petals seem to vanish with the summer heat, it also brings a new crop of blooms: lavenders. And you don’t need to break the bank to head to Provence when you have the Highland Springs Ranch and Inn’s lavender farm just a short drive away.
Although the lavenders have yet to reach their peak bloom, you can still wander through the upcoming purple paradise with the fresh herbal fragrance filling the warm air from May 3 through July 30. There are 20 acres of fields to explore at the ranch, along with handmade lavender crafts to browse, incredible products to shop, and delicious lavender-infused dishes and drinks to taste. It’s a feast for the senses and it’s the perfect way to escape from the city without traveling too far.
Start your journey with a stroll through the winding paths among the beautiful blooms or hop on a horse-drawn hay wagon to discover how the flowers are harvested and used in everything from essential oils to the incredible lattes (which you’ll inevitably become addicted to). Have a little stopover at the adorable wooden stand to quench your thirst with a lavender lemonade before heading to a flower crown craft session—it’s probably the only place you’ll get to indulge in the craft outside of Coachella.
Once you’re refreshed, you can fill a basket with beautiful lavender-infused honey, balsamic vinegar, essential oils, fresh bouquets, plants and even lavender-stuffed toy products from local vendors. You’ll also want to ensure you don’t leave without marveling at the magnificent thousand-year-old California living oak tree.
You’ll want to make sure you book ahead as you’ll be competing with day-trippers and bloom-hungry Instagrammers for tickets.
