From Castaic Lake to Hansen Dam, some of the best summer watering holes officially ended their swim seasons on Labor Day.
But as Angelenos stare down another week with temps in the 80s, there’s one small community pool that’s keeping its doors open just a bit longer… and what’s more, it offers free recreational swimming on Saturdays.
Loma Alta Park Pool, located at 3330 N. Lincoln Ave. in Altadena, is staying open through September 30 thanks to a one-time grant from L.A. County Supervisor Kathryn Barger.
The extended season began on August 24, keeping the pool open weeks after the County’s standard seasonal pool schedule ended on August 15.
The recreational swim hours are free to enjoy from 12:30 to 4pm on Saturdays. Swimmers can also enjoy low-cost lap sessions, water exercise, or swim lessons.
Beyond the pool, Loma Alta Park is a charming, 24-acre neighborhood gathering place in the Altadena foothills, offering a rec center, playground, basketball courts, sports fields, picnic space, and a popular dog park.
Temperatures are predicted to hit a high of 83°F in Altadena this Saturday and Sunday before dipping down into the 70s next week… perfect for one last dip in the water.
