A consultancy firm specializing in real estate, tourism, and economic development, took into account these factors, along with user-generated data from social media to compile a comprehensive list of the top cities in the United States for both travelers and residents.
The comprehensive rankings of America’s Best Cities are derived from analyzing public perception along with various factors that show significant correlations with attracting prime-age population (aged 25–44), visitor spending, and/or business creation.
To qualify for inclusion in this list, Resonance considered U.S. cities with populations exceeding 500,000. Each city underwent ranking based on a blend of core statistics and user-generated data sourced from platforms like Tripadvisor and Instagram, ultimately culminating in its proprietary Place Power Score.
The cities were also evaluated across three main pillars: Livability, Lovability, and Prosperity, using a separate survey with a sample of 2,000 people. According to the report, here are the best cities in the United States to live in and visit in 2024:
- New York City, NY
- Chicago, Illinois
- Los Angeles, California
- Miami, Florida
- Las Vegas, Nevada
- San Francisco, California
- Boston, Massachusetts
- Washington, D.C
