Los Angeles’ food scene is slowly but surely catching up with some heavyweights like London, Paris, or New York. From being home to some of the best burgers in the world to upscale Michelin-starred eateries, the city is quietly becoming a major hub for food lovers.
And now, another player joins the vibrant landscape, with a whole new innovative and experimental take on how we experience a typical night out. Dining in the Dark is a monthly event taking place at City Club Los Angeles, a sensory experience held 699 feet above the city.
Dining in the Dark: A Unique Blindfolded Dining Experience at City Club

The concept strips away sight entirely, placing guests in a controlled, blindfolded setting where a secret three-course menu becomes the only compass. Each dinner is built around discovery: an appetizer, main course, and dessert revealed only through taste, texture, and aroma.
Before arriving, guests select one of three mystery directions for their menu: Red (meat), Blue (seafood), or Green (vegan), and submit dietary requirements after booking. The rest is intentionally withheld, turning dinner into a gradual unraveling rather than a predictable sequence.
The experience is designed to amplify perception… Without visual cues, flavors feel louder, textures more detailed, and even familiar ingredients can take on unfamiliar identities.
City Club Los Angeles, sky-high dining
Set high above Downtown Los Angeles, City Club LA provides the backdrop for the experience. The venue sits 699 feet above ground level inside the City National Tower, a textbook corporate international-style skyscraper completed in 1972.
Designed by the renowned local architecture firm Albert C. Martin & Associates, the complex originally served as the world headquarters for the Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO). Today, it stands as the 10th tallest building in Los Angeles, though it briefly held the crown as the city’s tallest skyscraper upon its opening.
