L.A. is by far one of the most multicultural places in the world, with massive communities of people from all over the globe. From Japan and Greece to Mexico and Nigeria, the city is a melting pot of cultures that shapes endless opportunities for entertainment, activities, and a constantly growing food scene.
But the best part about sharing a piece of our home with people from such diverse backgrounds is the language exchange and learning. According to a study shared by the online learning platform Preply, L.A. is officially one of the most bilingual cities in America. In fact, it’s the second most bilingual city, right after the border city of El Paso, Texas.

The platform looked at U.S. Census Bureau data to identify the country’s largest cities, and then checked the American Community Survey’s social and demographic tables to see which ones are the most and least bilingual.
When it comes to L.A., the study highlights that the city (which is home to roughly 4 million people), has a large Spanish-speaking population. In fact, almost half of Angelenos speak Spanish (48.5%) more than any other language. In fact, Los Angeles County alone is home to 9% of all Spanish speakers in the U.S.
