Lucha libre is making its long-awaited return to the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) this September, and it’s shaping up to be one of the museum’s biggest celebrations yet.
In honor of its 30th anniversary, MOLAA is hosting a full weekend dedicated to one of Latin America’s most iconic cultural traditions.
Visitors can expect thrilling live wrestling matches, live music, film screenings, art exhibitions, workshops, food, and family-friendly activities as the museum transforms into a colorful arena of masks, high-flying action, and community celebration.

🤼Friday, September 25
6 p.m. – 10 p.m. | Luchadores Versus Everything Book Launch & Reception
Kick off the weekend with the launch of the internationally acclaimed Luchadores Versus Everything. The evening includes an artist panel moderated by Denise Salcedo, light snacks, cocktails available for purchase, and Enter the Ring: A Journey Through Lucha Libre Cinema, an immersive installation featuring rare trailers from classic Mexican lucha libre films.

3:30 p.m. | Live music
Dance along as La Nueva Ola De Cumbia performs cumbia versions of popular hits from the ’80s, ’90s, and beyond.
5:30 p.m. | Live Lucha Libre at MOLAA
The museum’s Robert Gumbiner Sculpture Garden transforms into an outdoor wrestling arena featuring legendary luchadores including El Cumbias, Kensei, Destiny, Rayo Star, Super Astro Jr., El Muerto, Ultimo Principe, Red Spider Rudo, Vertigo, and Mariachi Loco. Food and drinks will be available for purchase throughout the evening.

12 p.m. | Workshop
Monsters We Carry, Heroes We Invent: A Workshop on Fear, Identity, and Transformation Through Mexican Popular Cinema. (Separate ticket required.)
2 p.m. | Lecture & Film Screening
Attend Who Was Afraid of the Batwoman? Gender, Censorship, and Female Power in Mexican Popular Cinema with filmmaker and archivist Viviana García Besné, followed by a screening. Badge access required.
All day (11 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
Enjoy food trucks, art workshops, panels, meet-and-greets with lucha libre wrestlers, and a rare screening of La Mujer Murciélago (The Batwoman) as part of the Lucha Libre Film Screening & Expo.

Visitors can purchase VIP or General All Access Badges, which include admission to the full weekend of events plus free parking.
Individual event tickets will also be available beginning September 7, if space remains. Badge prices will increase after August 23.
