The Restaurant & Bar Design Awards are among the most prestigious global competitions recognizing excellence in hospitality design. The Surface Interiors category celebrates spaces where materials, textures, and finishes create immersive dining environments. Founded by Sam Jordan, Lucía is the only L.A. eatery in this prestigious category.
The restaurant is an upscale Afro-Caribbean restaurant in Fairfax, known for its modern twist on traditional Caribbean dishes, curated by Jamaica-born chef Adrian Forte, a Top Chef Canada semifinalist.
The menu offers dishes like jerk-spiced dry-aged tomahawk steak, coconut fried chicken with Trini mac pie, and Wagyu beef Jamaican patties.
But it’s not just the cuisine that impresses. As described by Wallpaper, Lucía’s interior is a fusion of Caribbean influences and mid-century glamour. The space features a towering white terrazzo bar resembling a palm tree, sea-shell-inspired booths, and golden mirrored accents. Artistic elements include verdigris palm sculptures by Guerin Swing and bespoke wallpaper by Candice Kaye.
The winners of the 2025 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards will be announced on October 27 in Dubai, celebrating the most outstanding and creative hospitality designs from around the world. As the only L.A. finalist in the Surface Interiors category, Lucía stands out for its stunning interior and innovative approach to Caribbean cuisine.
