Halloween is creeping back into Los Angeles, and with it comes a packed lineup of spooky entertainment, from new movie releases and haunted attractions to elaborate theme park events. Among this year’s additions is a particularly unusual collaboration at Knott’s Berry Farm, where one of Hollywood’s most famous magic institutions is stepping into the Halloween spotlight.
The Magic Castle is bringing its magicians to Knott’s Scary Farm
The Magic Castle, the private Hollywood club known for its magic shows and professional performers, is partnering with Knott’s Scary Farm for a brand-new production called “Occultum.” The show will take place at Bird Cage Theatre, a recently refurbished venue inside Knott’s Berry Farm where Magic Castle magicians have performed for decades. The Magic Castle will provide the performers and help direct the production, while resident magician Rudy Coby will curate the lineup.
Rather than featuring the same performers every night, “Occultum” will change throughout the season, with different magicians appearing from week to week. The show is also expected to take a darker and more intense approach than a typical Magic Castle performance.
According to the L.A. Times, Coby said some of the illusions planned for the production would actually be too intense for the Magic Castle itself, including concepts involving chainsaws and cutting off limbs. The idea is to make the performances edgier and more attention-grabbing for a Halloween theme park audience.
Knott’s Scary Farm returns on September 17, 2026, with “Occultum” expected to run nightly throughout the Halloween event.
