It’s no secret that L.A. is a foodie capital of the world! The collision of cultures from around the globe produces unique takes on international flavors and cuisines that are irresistible to the palate – and a few more restaurants have just been recognized on a global scale.
On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, San Diego hosted the awards for the Michelin Guide California, and six Los Angeles restaurants were honored with the distinction of a star.
The six 2026 Michelin-star winners in L.A. are:
- Corrdifor 109
- Kato
- KOJIMA
- Lielle
- Miura
- Seline
This is a first for five of the six restaurants. Kato earned its second Michelin star, making it one of two L.A. area restaurants with the distinction. Chef Jon Yao, who led the restaurant to receive its first Michelin star back in 2019, is proud to represent the city.
“Kato is a story of Los Angeles: the persistence and perseverance of all the communities that make up this city, the producers, farmers, and artisans of California, the rich histories of our cultural enclaves, and our team, who now call this city home,” Yao said in a statement. “This one is for L.A.”
Earlier this year, Top Chef host Kristen Kish gushed over the Taiwanese fine dining experience. “One of my favorite places is Kato,” she told Secret Los Angeles. “It’s an incredible tasting menu.”
Kato joins Hayato as the only two-time Michelin-starred restaurant in the area. Two other restaurants, Providence and Somni, have three Michelin stars each.
