Take your palate on a trip to Japan at this huge emporium.
The gleaming Mitsuwa Marketplace in Del Amo Fashion Center has become South Bay’s go-to hub for Japanese food. Since opening last February, the stalls have faced a couple of hurdles—like a pandemic and a ban on indoor dining. Despite it all, it’s managed to come out the other side with all the delicious market vendors open and a brand new outdoor patio to enjoy.
Its brightly lit, minimalist interiors and simple signage make the colorful shelves of instant ramen, shoyu, sake, frozen gyoza and ready-made sauces pop as you glide through the aisles. Once you’ve finished filling your cart you can treat yourself to the real attraction: the food court vendors.
Try out some of Yamacho Hasegawa’s seafood dishes or Delica’ katsu bowls, then head to Hamada-ya Bakery for a pastry and save some room for a mochi doughnut from Modo Donuts—where there are different flavors every day and you can reserve a pickup time online. The prepared foods are also worth looking into if you’re looking for some sushi or sashimi, either way, once you’ve found something that tickles your fancy you can head to the enormous outdoor patio and soak up some rays or hang out in the shade while you treat your tastebuds.
