The internet has crowned a new unexpected viral princess, and she’s a chubby, sassy, slippery little girl from Thailand called Moo Deng. Of course, Moo Deng is a baby pygmy hippopotamus, and she’s quickly become the most famous girl on the internet due to her cheeky attitude, cute facial expressions, and adorable little bites on anyone who gets in her way. If you haven’t yet seen memes featuring Moo Deng, you must not be on the internet. And as if she wasn’t already cute enough, her name Moo Deng means “bouncy pig” or “pork patty.”
All Moo Deng All The Time
Obviously the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Thailand is a long way from Los Angeles. And even if you have the time and resources to jump on a plane straight to Thailand, entry to the zoo has been overwhelmed by Moo Deng’s many admirers. But now we have the next best thing to a trip to see our girl in person – the Khao Kheow Open Zoo just launched a 24-hour livestream of the hippopotamus habitat to satisfy the internet’s need for all things Moo Deng all the time. You can follow along with the baby hippo’s day to day activities from the comfort of your own home.
Follow along for Moo Deng’s latest glamour shots
The newest 24-hour livestream is focused on the hippopotamus enclosure, so you won’t necessarily see Moo Deng on the screen at all times. (She needs her uninterrupted beauty rest too! It takes a lot of effort to look so cute all the time!) However, you can always check out the zoo’s Instagram page for the latest adorable pics of “bouncy pig/pork patty” Moo Deng.
More 24/7 animal livestreams from California
While we obviously love Moo Deng, there are so many other charming and interesting animals right here in California that have their own livestreams as well. The California Academy of Sciences has multiple live webcams for their numerous animals. You can view their penguin colony from two different cameras angles, and their twice-daily narrated feeding time is the most exciting time to tune in. There’s also a live webcam on their in-house reef lagoon featuring various types of ray species and brilliant tropical fish.
Plus, the Monterey Bay Aquarium streams many live cams featuring lots of different animals such as birds, jellyfish, leopard spider crabs, sea otters, turtles, penguins, and sharks. There are so many ways to view nature live even if you can’t make the trek to the wild.
