There’s a buzz in L.A. all about Bait, a new comedy series from acclaimed British-Pakistani actor, rapper, producer, and activist, Riz Ahmed, that’s already drawing serious attention.
The story centers on Shah Latif, a struggling actor facing the audition of a lifetime, and his last real shot at success. Over the course of four chaotic days, his world starts to unravel as family tensions, an ex-lover, and industry pressures all collide in increasingly unpredictable ways.
This special screening at Vidiots on Sunday, April 26th at 6 pm features three episodes of the series. The viewing is followed by a live conversation with Ahmed himself—who not only stars, but also serves as creator, co-showrunner, and executive producer. Expect sharp, character-driven comedy with a deeper emotional edge.
How to Still Attend
Yes, it’s technically sold out online! But there’s still a way in if you’re willing to put in a little effort. Vidiots is offering a limited number of walk-up tickets released at the box office roughly 45 minutes before the 6:00 pm screening. It’s strictly first-come, first-served, so arriving early is essential.
If walk-ups run out, standby tickets may become available depending on no-shows. Even RSVPs don’t guarantee entry, as the event is intentionally overbooked to account for no-shows.
Get there before doors open at 5:00 pm if you want a real shot at attendance.
Where is the screening?
The event takes place at Vidiots, one of L.A.’s most beloved film spaces. With nearly 11,000 square feet dedicated to screenings, rentals, and community programming, it’s a hybrid of old-school video store nostalgia and modern cinema culture.
The screening will be held in the Eagle Theatre, a 271-seat auditorium outfitted with 35mm and DCP projection and high-end sound. Plus, they offer delicious concessions, a light menu, and beer and wine. It’s an ideal spot to linger, even if you’re waiting it out in the standby line.
