In honor of their return of the Big New Yorker pizza to its menu, Pizza Hut joined forces with YouTuber Eric Decker AKA airrack to cook up a massive pizza measuring more than 14,100 square feet at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
This incredible feat went down on Wednesday and took hours to prepare. Then on Friday, January 20, Pizza Hut sent out an announcement on Instagram celebrating the official Guinness confirmation that they broke the world record for the biggest pizza in the world!
The pizza chain’s world record win beats the previous record set in 2012 by Italian chefs. Their pizza was 13,000-square-feet.
We can proudly say that this delicious accomplishment was broken right here in Los Angeles, and don’t worry, the pizza did not go to waste! According to Reuters, Pizza Hut’s CEO David Graves stated its 68,000 slices were donated to local food banks around the city. Now that’s amóre!
