A new year comes with new experiences, and Astra Lumina is one of the most unforgettable events around. Now that we’re starting to settle into 2024 and the fireworks are over, a different kind of light show is here to inspire those New Year’s resolutions. So what can you expect at South Coast Botanic Garden’s Astra Lumina night walk? Allow us to tell you!
1. Stargazing Isn’t Always Easy In LA, But It Is At Astra Lumina
The outskirts of Los Angeles are actually pretty good for stargazing, but within the city proper, Griffith Observatory is one of our only good options to take in the night skies. While we usually have clear skies, light pollution and smog can seriously affect just how many stars are visible.
Astra Lumina is located in Palos Verdes Estates at South Coast Botanic Garden. You’ll be removed from much of the light pollution and much closer to the ocean. With recent studies suggesting ocean water can clean smog, the skies should be gleaming with many more stars than you’d see in DTLA.
And not only that, but Astra Lumina itself lets you walk through starfields. The cutting-edge light and sound systems will make you feel like you’ve been transported into the heavens. Astra Lumina’s otherworldly light displays look even better underneath a sky of stars.
2. A Cosmic Night Walk Deserves Drinks That Are Equally Out Of This World, And Astral Tequila Definitely Delivers
Astra Lumina and Astral Tequila is a match made in heaven. The blue agave spirit is crafted using the natural warming/cooling cycle of day to night, making it a perfect fit for extraterrestrial experience. Some of our favorites were the Star Crossed Sour, Cosmic Hot Chocolate (with coffee liqueur), and the MoonGlow Mule!
Not a tequila drinker? No problem! There’s plenty of spirit options if you’d like to substitute, as well as beer, wine, and Garden Spritz. You can also get some soda, coffee, or hot chocolate, and I’ll leave it up to you whether you want it spiked.
3. You Can Witness The Latest Installation From World-Renowned Studio Moment Factory
Astra Lumina isn’t your average night out. Movies and drinks are always fun, but Moment Factory specializes in creating unique and interactive experiences you won’t find anywhere else.
