For millions worldwide and locally, the Rose Parade is a beloved tradition — showcasing a vibrant display of artistry, creativity, and community spirit along Pasadena’s famed Colorado Boulevard. What began in 1890 as an event with horse-drawn carriages covered in flowers has grown into a spectacular 5.5-mile procession featuring dazzling floral floats, marching bands, and special Tournament Entries.
Over the decades, many participants maintain long-standing connections to the event, keeping its rich heritage alive. The elaborate floats, now marvels of modern technology and organic beauty, owe their success to the dedication of 935 “White Suiter” volunteers, who collectively contribute more than 80,000 hours each year to ensure the parade and Rose Bowl Game run smoothly.
This upcoming Rose Parade will be no different and nothing short of spectacular. From catching these floral masterpieces in person to streaming with family it at home — join the Tournament of Roses on January 1, 2025, to kick off the new year with an unforgettable celebration — making it the “Best Day Ever!”
🌹 When is the 2025 Rose Parade?
The 136th Rose Parade will take place on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, in Pasadena, California, starting at 8:00 a.m. local time.
🥳 What is the 2025 Rose Parade’s theme?
“The 2025 theme celebrates life’s best moments — those unexpected times that bring a smile, warm our hearts and fill us with joy. From a once-in-a-lifetime experience to the simplest pleasures, each is indelibly etched into our memory,” explained Tournament President Ed Morales. “Together, we celebrate where we’ve been and what we look forward to. It’s about family, friends, and community and what we have to celebrate — and to be thankful for. On New Year’s Day and throughout the year, let’s celebrate the times that make up our Best Day Ever!”
⭐ Who is the Grand Marshal?
The 2025 Rose Parade embodies the theme “Best Day Ever!” and welcomes Grand Marshal Billie Jean King, a sports legend and equality advocate. King, the first female athlete to receive both the Presidential Medal of Freedom and soon the Congressional Gold Medal, will lead the parade and participate in the pre-game ceremony at the 111th Rose Bowl Game. Her lifelong commitment to social change and inclusion makes her an inspiring figure for this year’s celebration.
🎤 Who will close the Rose Parade?
Pop icon Debbie Gibson will close the parade with a Grand Finale performance on the Mansion Entertainment Group float. Known for her record-breaking hit “Foolish Beat” and a career spanning decades in music and theater, Gibson joins a tradition of standout female performers at the Rose Parade. Her “Winterlicious” holiday events in Los Angeles, New York, and Florida celebrate inclusivity and joy, aligning perfectly with the parade’s theme.
