If you’re overdue to visit the world-renowned San Diego Zoo, now may be the time to plan a trip. The zoo announced that it will permanently end its long-running summertime Nighttime Zoo program after this season.
For now, visitors can still book tickets to Nighttime Zoo through August 9, 2026. While the zoo usually closes at 5pm during the rest of the year, Nighttime Zoo offers extended hours through 8pm, offering guests an opportunity to see many of the animals more active in the evening.
The program also presents a fun lineup of family-friendly entertainment, including live bands, whimsical wildlife puppets, dancers, interactive presentations, and acrobats.
While the zoo did not go into detail about why Nighttime Zoo is coming to an end after more than 25 years, the website states that a new seasonal festival will debut in its place next year — details still TBA.
