About 90 miles up the coast, the historic Santa Barbara Botanic Garden marks its 100th anniversary this October with a month-long public celebration. As the first garden in the country dedicated exclusively to native plants, the garden offers a lovely opportunity to honor and learn all about California’s natural landscapes.
Guests can enjoy free admission every Sunday (October 4, 11, 18, and 25), featuring themed programming, sunset yoga, a bring-your-dog week, and more.

“Garden to Glass” cocktails citywide
Beyond the Garden, nine Santa Barbara establishments will serve limited-edition botanical cocktails throughout October under the “Garden to Glass” program. Each drink draws on the flavors and aromas of California native plants, and $1 from every cocktail sold goes directly to the Garden’s conservation and education work.
Participating “Garden to Glass” locations are Barbareño, Bistro Amasa, Convivo, La Paloma, Little Dom’s, Monte’s, The Good Lion, The Lark, and Third Window Brewing.
