Laguna Beach is about to welcome back its 60th annual Sawdust Art Festival! The open-air festival kicks off this Friday, June 26, and runs daily through September 6.
Over the ten weeks, 180+ Orange County artists will gather to show and sell their work from handcrafted booths. Visitors can wander shaded pathways lined with sawdust, perusing a range of works across painting, ceramics, glass, jewelry, photography, mixed media, and more.
The festival unfolds in a scrappy, artist-built village tucked into the eucalyptus-lined Laguna Canyon, celebrating the town’s art legacy by showcasing work from all local resident artists.
Things to do at the Sawdust Art Festival
Beyond browsing the artwork, guests can gather to watch live demonstrations of glassblowing, pottery throwing, or printmaking, and even sign up for hands-on workshops to try techniques themselves.
The schedule typically includes live music every day, from acoustic sets to full bands across three stages. Combined with a selection of fantastic food and drink kiosks, it’s easy to show up for the afternoon and turn the experience into a full evening out.
True pros combine their trip out to Laguna Beach with another stop at the Festival of Arts just down the road, which begins on July 7th. Its main attraction is the Pageant of the Masters, a living picture performance that’s been going on for nearly a century.
