Actor and comedian Seth Rogen just won his first Golden Globe!
Tonight is the 83rd Golden Globe Awards and The Studio, the Apple TV series about a chaotic yet doe-eyed exec at a Los Angeles production studio, won big at the Sunday night ceremony. The award is made even hilarious considering there’s a two-episode arc on The Studio where Rogan’s character, Matt Remick, wins a Golden Globe.
“This is so weird,” Rogan told the crowd. “We just pretended to do this, and now it’s happening. I thought the only way I’d get to hold one was to create a whole show to give myself a fake one.”
The moment was made all the more ironic considering it was presented by Zoe Kravitz and Dave Franco, who both played (versions of) themselves on the Golden Globes episodes of The Studio. All three hugged on stage as Rogen won.
Rogen also addressed his fellow nominees, Steve Martin and Martin Short. “I remember growing up watching you guys, my whole life thinking, ‘One day I’m going to beat them.’” Rogen laughed, then added, “I did not think that.”
And no, Sal Saperstein wasn’t thanked.
