In an effort to ease the ongoing housing crisis in the city, a massive building is now underway in Hollywood, just east of the 101 Freeway. The 35‑story project, called Sky Village Hollywood, will be one of the largest affordable housing developments in the city once complete.
The Sky Village Hollywood tower
The affordable housing development located at 5645 Fernwood Avenue will rise 35 stories tall and include 523 studio and one‑bedroom units, as reported by Urbanize LA. According to city planning records, the development’s total size is around 388,432 square feet.
The tower will offer open space on a large rooftop deck and is positioned close to other recent housing projects, like Holland Partner Group’s 185‑unit Ardence & Bloom apartments and the PATH Villas Hollywood supportive housing complex.
Parking for the site will be limited, with just 54 spots, a choice that helps keep costs down and encourages public transit usage and walking. The developers expect construction to take about 36 months, with completion anticipated in late 2029.
How much will rent cost at Sky Village?
While specific monthly rents have not yet been released, this tower is planned to be 100 % affordable, meaning most units will be priced below market rates based on household income. Residents typically must qualify based on income limits set by the city and federal programs.
The project focuses on seniors and veterans, at moderate, low, and very low‑income levels, a group often priced out of Hollywood and greater L.A. housing markets.
