Big dreams can come in small packages, like Sophia, the 12-year-old behind Sophi’s Collectables, the San Fernando Valley’s newest obsession.
What started in 2023 as a schoolyard hustle selling Hello Kitty cosmetics has grown into a full-blown family-run collectibles haven, and a local success story that’s impossible not to love.
From Schoolyard to Farmers Markets
Sophia’s curiosity quickly became contagious. She and her dad, Juan, turned her side hustle into an online shop, then hit the local farmers markets, charming casual shoppers and die-hard collectors alike. By late 2024, the family expanded into quirky, hard-to-find collectibles, like Sonny Angels, Huntrix dolls, and capybara plushies.
And their story went from “cute idea” to “must-see phenomenon.” Then, Juan left his mechanic job to fully back his daughter’s vision, running a kiosk at Northridge Mall while the family juggled farmers market tables.
All In, All Family
Come mid-December 2025, Sophi’s Collectables opens its first full storefront in the Northridge Mall. It will be a bright, playful space where nostalgia meets collectable obsession. It’s a community hub for families and collectors to geek out, share stories, and support a family-driven dream.
Whether hunting for the latest collectible craze or just craving a dose of San Fernando Valley charm, Sophi’s Collectables is fun and family-driven. Stop by, say hi to Sophia and the crew, and leave with a treasure (or three). It’s the perfect spot to grab a cool holiday gift for the collectable lovers in your life!
