Movie lovers, rejoice! A24, one of the most prestigious and beloved studios among cinephiles, box office audiences, and critics alike, has announced the release of a new film (which is considered a serious Oscar contender), in a special format available exclusively in selected theaters in the city.
The Brutalist, a sweeping three-hour epic by Brady Corbet and starring Adrien Brody, was shot in VistaVision, a high-resolution format with a wider field of view that delivers stunning clarity in 70mm projections.
Attendees of the 70mm screenings will receive exclusive collectibles, including a brochure and postcard set featuring designs by László Toth, the fictional architect portrayed by Brody. Each ticket also includes a commemorative poster.
With a modest $10 million budget, the film tells the story of László, a visionary architect and Holocaust survivor, as he works to rebuild his life in post-war America. Starting in poverty, he secures a life-changing contract that transforms his future.
Corbet’s third film, is being recognized as a strong Oscar contender. In his review for Variety, chief film critic Owen Gleiberman commended the film, noting that “it’s paced with a satisfying grandeur and is filled with both action and emotion.”
