One of the most iconic reality shows of all time, The Simple Life, is over 20 years old. (Shocking, but true.) To celebrate their 20th anniversary of the hit show, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie are reunited and running around having mischievous fun just like old times.
Both Hilton and Richie surprised Sonic Drive-In customers in L.A. on August 5 by becoming the newest employees at the local drive-in. As Richie says in her Instagram post regarding their new gig, “When you think of wieners, think of me.” Of course, this wasn’t their first time flipping burgers and serving up hot dogs at a fast food joint. Fans of the show will remember that they originally worked at Sonic Drive-In during the third episode of the first season of The Simple Life.
That episode was rightly titled “Sonic Burger Shenanigans.” During that episode, Hilton and Richie are hired to work at Sonic for one day. But things don’t go according to plan, when hijinks and hilarity ensues, which is typical of many of their adventures.
The original series of The Simple Life aired from 2003 to 2007 and quickly became a mega cultural hit for so many around the world. Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie are famous for their wealth and Hollywood connections. Every episode in the series showed Hilton and Richie doing normal, everyday things like working as camp counselors, at a gas station, on a dairy farm, or even at Sonic Drive-In.
In an Instagram video posted earlier this summer, Hilton announces, “Hey, guys, just got home from shooting with Nicole. As some of you may know, we are doing a reunion special to celebrate 20 years of our show, The Simple Life, and it is so much fun. And we are planning something very, very special…”
This reunion has been in the hearts and minds of Simple Life superfans for a long time now, so the excitement is running high. The most iconic, zany duo from the 2000s is back together again, and nostalgia is reaching peak levels. In the very famous words of Paris Hilton, “That’s hot.”
