The Los Angeles LGBT Center will host Trans Pride LA 2022, one of the nation’s oldest and largest celebrations of the TGI/ENBY+ community (Trans, Gender Non-Conforming, Intersex, Non-Binary & Gender Expansive). The festivities will take place at the Center’s Village at Ed Gould Plaza and Anita May Rosenstein Campus in Los Angeles on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, June 16–18. Admission to this three-day gathering is completely free and will center around education and empowerment for the community.
“After two years of virtual Trans Pride events, we are looking forward to the return of this joyous event to The Village and Anita May Rosenstein Campus,” said Gina Bigham, the program manager of the Center’s Trans* Lounge and organizer of the event. “These last two years have been extremely hard on our community. As we watch the continued assault on trans rights across the country, we are determined to celebrate and show the world our strength and resilience.”
On June 16, the program of events will begin with an in-person job fair organized by TEEP (Trans Economic Empowerment Program) from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Later that evening, you can join the online discussion From Invisible to Inclusion: An intersectional intersex experiences and issues where a panel of thought leaders and activists from the intersex community will present their unique journey and tackle the future of intersex adults.
Friday will see the twelfth edition of the beloved Big Queer Convo with Shaan Dasani in conversation with Special Guest Vico Ortiz from the hit HBO series Our Flag Means Death. After some heart-to-hearts and fun chats, revelers can head the gallery opening of SYZYGY which questions ideas of selfhood and will be accompanied by DJs and, of course, dancing.
Closing off the celebrations is a host of exciting Trans Pride activities, including food trucks, a happy hour session and workshops, followed by a VarieTy Show. You can find the full schedule and all the details here.
