The United States Postal Service has spent the last few months rolling out 2026 stamp collections, featuring designs to honor Muhammad Ali, the Lunar New Year, and nearly two dozen others.
On March 13th, USPS released a new series of Lowriders stamps at a ceremony in San Diego, California. The five stamp designs are meant to honor Mexican American and Chicano communities throughout the American Southwest.
‘Lowriders’ Stamps
USPS’s new Lowriders stamps come in a sheet of 15 with photographs of five classic Lowrider models:
- Eight Figures, a blue 1968 Chevrolet Impala
- The Golden Rose, an orange 1964 Chevrolet Impala
- Pocket Change, a green 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
- Let the Good Times Roll/Soy Como Soy, a blue 1946 Chevrolet Fleetline
- El Rey, a red 1963 Chevrolet Impala
They are Forever Stamps, meaning they’re always valid for sending one ounce of mail, regardless of future rate increases.

Lowrider culture in California
Lowrider culture originated in the mid-20th century, largely within Mexican American communities in major California cities such as Los Angeles, San Jose, and San Diego. It developed as a way to express cultural heritage and identity through the customization of cars designed to move low and slow along city streets.
These vehicles are known for distinctive elements like elaborate paint jobs, chrome accents, hydraulic systems, and detailed murals. Together, these features turn the cars into mobile pieces of art and powerful symbols of Chicano pride.
Although lowriders have historically faced discrimination and restrictive regulations, California lifted a long-standing ban on lowrider cruising in January 2024, officially allowing the practice once again.
More 2026 USPS stamps
USPS is about halfway through releasing nearly two dozen new stamp collections for 2026. Since January, they’ve rolled out stamps honoring figures like Muhammad Ali, Phillis Wheatley, Bruce Lee, and Harriet Powers, as well as galaxy and Lunar New Year-themed designs.
More upcoming stamp releases include odes to figures of the American Revolution and Route 66, American figurehead animals like bald eagles and bison, an “International Peace” design featuring a paper crane, and a cute “Squirrels and Chipmunks in Snow” collection.
