If you’ve been waiting around for Sylvia and Will’s antics to return to your screen, you’re in luck – Platonic returns for its second season on August 6, streaming exclusively on Apple TV+. Like in season 1, this season sees Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne back in their roles as the hilarious duo, promising bigger antics, more chaos and of course, more heart-warming moments.
How many episodes will there be?
Across 10 new episodes, the season picks up not long after the antics of season 1, which followed the pair reconnecting years after a massive fall out. The pair supported each other through Sylvia’s return to work and Will’s unravelling marriage, and this season will see them navigate even bigger life transitions. Both as individuals and together, expect plenty more hilarious and uncomfortable moments between the duo, with Rogen and Byrne bringing even more laugh-out-loud scenarios to the screen.

What’s facing the duo this season?
In season 2, Will has not only found a new corporate job at a restaurant chain, but also a new fiancee. Sylvia has made her way back into the workforce as an event planner which, at least in theory, makes her the ideal person to plan her best friend’s wedding. All of that sets us up for plenty of uncomfortable situations and messy conversations, paired with relatable storylines and plenty of heart-warming moments. As always, the show doesn’t shy away from exploring how friendship looks in adulthood, along with how it impacts relationships, choices and the ability to grow as individuals.

Which cast members are returning?
As mentioned, Seth Rogen returns to his role as Will, with Rose Byrne at his side as Sylvia. Of course, the new season also features favorite cast members alongside some new faces. Luke Macfarlane returns as Charlie, Sylvia’s husband and her best friend Katie, played by Carla Gallo is also back. Will’s friends and Lucky Penny business partners, played by Tre Hale and Andrew Lopez also return. Otherwise, expect guest appearances from several SNL alumni, including Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney and Beck Bennett. With a line-up like that, you can definitely expect huge laughs this season.
The season premieres with a two-episode drop on August 6, followed by weekly episodes every Wednesday through October 1.
Nothing really says best friend/partner-in-crime/platonic life partner than committing to watching every episode together, so round up your Sylvia/Will and commit to weekly watch parties. Platonic really is the ultimate comfort show – and given new episodes drop every Wednesday, it really is the perfect pick-me-up to look forward to in the middle of the week. Kick off the new season by re-watching the season 1 finale over some takeout and then get settled in for a weekly viewing together. After all, not watching ahead (even when you really want to) is kind of the ultimate friendship test. Just make sure you settle on which one of you is Slyvia and which one of you is Will.
