What is We Call It Tango?
There’s that age-old saying: “It takes two to Tango”, highlighting the forbidden romance between two lovers, leading you through truly intoxicating tales. At We Call It Tango, three sultry acts are underscored by thirteen tangos as Amelia is seduced by the heady dance, La Milonga. She sneaks out to embrace it and ends up involved in a torrid love affair. Each step smoulders with desire and longing. Feel the burning flames of desire in every movement, set against the backdrop of 1950s Villa Malcom del barrio de Palermo in Buenos Aires.
Tango, its music and the show
Tango reflects the vibrancy of 19th-century Buenos Aires and Montevideo. A cultural conglomeration of African, Caribbean, and European rhythms, it was initially embraced by the working class with all the grit and bite of urban life. It has rapidly captivated hearts across continents with its sensual flair and irresistible drama.
More than just a dance, it’s a UNESCO-allocated art form of intangible cultural heritage. We Call if Tango celebrates all elements of this complex celebration of the human condition. Classics like ‘Libertango’ and ‘Adios Nonino’ from the esteemed Piazzolla, Villoldo and more will ring out across the room.
