Spooky season is here, the perfect time for pumpkin cravings, trick-or-treating, horror movie marathons, and cozy lattes.
One of the events we love most this time of year is West Hollywood’s Halloween Carnaval, California’s largest Halloween street celebration, returning for another night of costumes, music, and festive crowds. This October, Santa Monica Boulevard will transform into a giant free Halloween party!
But the festivities also come with significant street closures you should know about, whether you’re planning to show off your best scary outfit or simply trying to avoid a traffic headache.
West Hollywood’s Halloween Carnaval street closures

The celebration runs on Saturday, October 31, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. along a one-mile stretch of Santa Monica Boulevard, between North Doheny Drive and North La Cienega Boulevard. According to the City of West Hollywood, several surrounding streets and parking facilities will also close.
Key restrictions include:
- Santa Monica Boulevard: Closed between North Doheny Drive and La Cienega Boulevard from 10 a.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday. The main stretch must be fully closed by noon.
- Nearby streets: Robertson Boulevard and North San Vicente Boulevard close from 7 a.m. Saturday. La Cienega Boulevard and select Sunset Boulevard turn lanes will also be affected.
- Parking garages: The West Hollywood Park parking structure closes all day Saturday, while the Library Garage closes from 5 a.m. Saturday until 7 a.m. Sunday.
- Residential parking: Permit parking restrictions are lifted citywide from 11 a.m. Saturday until noon Sunday.
If you are attending but you’d rather use public transportation, bus routes connecting to West Hollywood include 4, 10, 105, 212/312, 217, and 218.
What to expect at the 2026 WeHo Halloween Carnaval

The annual celebration is known for its elaborate costumes and lively street-party atmosphere. This year is expected to attract more than 100,000 people, making it a major Halloween destination in SoCal, featuring:
- 🎧 Live DJ: Catch the music at the main stage on Santa Monica Boulevard and North San Vicente Boulevard.
- 🌮 Food trucks: Grab a bite between costume spotting and exploring the festivities.
- 🎃 Costume watching: From creative getups to over-the-top Halloween looks, the crowds are part of the main attraction.
- 🍸 More celebrations: Bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues across WeHo will host additional Halloween events.
Admission is free, and costumes are encouraged, of course! Oh, and you can share your outfit on social using #wehohalloween.
As a very important reminder, before heading out, keep in mind that alcohol and public drinking are prohibited, and backpacks, tote bags, and camera cases aren’t allowed. Clear plastic bags are permitted, but weapons, fireworks, and drones are prohibited. Due to dense crowds, children and pets are strongly discouraged.
