Let the fiestas commence!
We’re all missing our favorite watering holes and with Cinco de Mayo coming up it feels like someone’s scraped the salt off our margaritas and rubbed it in the wound. While we all have hopes of salvaging the celebrations, waiting in agonizing lines at the grocery store can take the wind out of your sails; you could spend hours dreaming about the big spread you were going to make or have a list of obscure ingredients in mind for the elaborate cocktail you’ve been eyeing out only to find the ingredient options in your local store have diminished along with your enthusiasm. So don’t hang up the sombrero just yet, we’ve found a few ways to spice up the festivities at home without the hassle.
From taco kits with full bottles of high-quality tequila to pre-batched margarita bottles, here’s how you can get into the Cinco de Mayo spirit at home.
1. Petty Cash, 7360 Beverly Blvd
The semi-authentic taqueria closed down when the order went into place and just last week they managed to find their way back to us just in time for Cinco de Mayo. You can order a $21pp Cinco de Mayo Taco Kit which comes with Margaritas on deck (featuring tequila, mezcal, agave, mole bitters and a grapefruit peel), plus a full 750ml bottle of El Tesoro “Republique” Single Barrel Tequila and Mezcal to get the party started.
How to order: Pre-order between 4pm and 9pm on Tock
2. Madre! Oaxacan Restaurant and Mezcaleria
Madre has margaritas, palomas, michelada mixes and more to go which you can browse here. Some of the highlights include “Chapo & Kate” (tequila Blanco, Opuntia prickly pear, agave, cucumber, lime, spicy bitters) and a “Smokey Margarita” (mezcal joven, lime, Ancho Reyes, agave, Sal de Gusano). Of course, there’s a whole lot of delicious food to get your hands on too. If you want some food with it, they have a $16 Cinco de Mayo special which includes 3 tacos and a marg—but you’ll need to pre-order online.
How to order: Order through their website or call on 310-974-8005 (Palms) 310-559-4732 (Torrence).
3. Spirit Guides Cinco De Mayo Margarita Kits With A Guided Anejo Tasting
Take a festive journey through the history of the agave spirits with this Cinco de Mayo Margarita Party. Each ticket comes with a deluxe cocktail kit that serves two, a mix-along class featuring 2 tequila cocktails & an añejo tequila tasting with the Spirit Guides experts. Book your spot here.
4. Tallula’s, 118 Entrada Drive
Tallula’s are pre-batching their margaritas and Palomas, so you can get them all ready to guzzle down in these cute little bottles—which you can later fill with water to cure your hangover. They are also currently offering a Cinco de Mayo Party Pack that comes with a bottled margarita for 8 people, half a dozen enchiladas, nachos, beans, rice, and churros for $160.
How to order: take-out, delivery and curbside pick up through their website between 4pm and 8:30pm. Pre-orders at 1pm on Saturdays via phone or email at events@tallulasrestaurant.com.
Mezcalero have nailed all the ingredients for a really good time at home: incredible cocktail kits, tasty tacos and weekend DJs which you can check out on their Instagram. Plus if you pick up you get free chips & guac. The Palomapeño looks particularly tasty with freshly juiced pink grapefruit, roasted jalapeño, citrus peel agave & lime juice. Order it prebatched with either Mezcal or Tequila for two, or in a Cocktail Kit for four (alcohol sold separately).
How to order: Delivery & Pick Up from 11am to 10pm through their website.
6. Sourced Craft Cocktails, Various locations
Sweet, sour or spicy? Either way, the Texan company has got something to fire up your fiesta. They currently have a “Three Amigos Package” which includes 8oz batch of marg mix (think homemade honey, jalapeno tincture syrup and fresh lime juice) for 3 different margaritas. Then you pick which premium full bottle of tequila to go along with it. Each drink works out to $6.78. Your delivery comes with a whole lot of extras like a Jigga and merch.
