Keep reading, because you might be able to watch them in action!
A draft featuring world-class athletes
Over 180 athletes from around the world have opted in for the draft, in hopes to become one of the 40 athletes drafted by the four clubs. Over five rounds, each club will select 10 athletes — five men and five women — to fill up their roster in preparation for the 2027 XGL Winter Season. This season promises to be juicy, with key athletes to watch:
- Triple-threats Eileen Gu and Kelly Sildaru
- Japanese snowboard extraordinaire, Cocomo Murase (earned Big Air gold, Knuckle Huck silver and Slopestyle bronze at Aspen 2026)
- Alex Hall (14-time X Games medalist who scored gold in four disciplines)
- Canadian snowboarder Mark McMorris, with 25 medals, is the most-decorated athlete in Winter X Games history
And so many more…
Select fans will get to experience the event live
While everybody can tune in to the draft on ESPN+ / ESPN App, Roku Sports Channel and the X Games channel on YouTube, some fans will get the chance to attend in person. A limited number of “Superfan” tickets will be available for purchase, so keep an eye out on the X Games website for updates.
Why this matters
The Winter Draft is the first step of the MoonPay X Games League Winter Season, the first-ever season-long, team-based format in Winter X Games history. Athletes will no longer only be competing solo; they will be drafted in one of four clubs – XC Golden State, XC New York, XC Park City and XC Whistler – as they chase the XGL Championship. It’s a structure change that will impact the entire course of the Games, “creating season-long storylines and rivalries” that will get fans’ pulse racing.
“A team-based model across a set season gives the world’s best skiers and snowboarders a bigger, more consistent stage. Having theiryour name called at Cosm Los Angeles will be a historic moment for every athlete who is able to be in that room and tuning in from around the world.” — Annie Lokesh, SVP, X Games League.
The MoonPay X Games League brings the world-class action sports X Games is known for, this time with higher stakes. This is your exclusive opportunity to watch the draft in-person or tune into the X Games channel to watch it from the comfort of your home.
