Looking for somewhere suitably spooky to spend Halloween night? The Academy Museum is turning up the scares with an after-hours celebration packed with movies, music, tarot readings, cocktails, treats, and a little Hollywood magic.
Taking place on October 31, the 21+ Halloween event invites guests to get dressed up for a glamorous night at the museum. And if you’re a fan of ’90s witchy movies, there’s an especially exciting reason to stick around until the end of the night.
The evening will culminate in a special 30th-anniversary screening of The Craft (1996), with stars Robin Tunney and Rachel True joining the celebration.
Here’s what to expect
The festivities kick off at 7 p.m., giving guests plenty of time to explore, grab a drink, and get into the Halloween spirit before the movie begins.

A Halloween night made for movie lovers
The Academy Museum’s Halloween celebration offers a fun alternative to the usual costume parties. Instead of choosing between a night at the movies and a Halloween party, you can do both.
The event also gives guests the chance to experience The Horror Show outside of regular museum hours. Add in tarot readings, a DJ, drinks and a live makeup-effects presentation, and the whole evening feels like a Halloween movie brought to life.
And, of course, there’s The Craft. The 1996 cult classic follows a group of teenage girls who discover their powers and begin experimenting with witchcraft with increasingly dangerous consequences. Its 30th anniversary makes Halloween 2026 an especially fitting time to revisit the film.
Guests are encouraged to dress to impress, with hauntingly glamorous looks very much encouraged. So whether you’re channeling Nancy Downs, a classic Hollywood vampire, or your own supernatural alter ego, this is the night to go all out.
So, if you’re looking for a Halloween night in Los Angeles that’s equal parts spooky, glamorous and cinematic, this one belongs on your fall calendar.
