When’s the last time you’ve seen a VHS tape?
A visit to Adult’s Only is like taking a trip back to the ’90s.
Tucked away in a strip mall on Sunset and La Brea, you’ll spot a pink neon sign with a narrow entrance. Though the bouncer may look like a sketchy video store owner, don’t be alarmed – he’s just dressed for the part. Through a corridor entrance you’re taken to a broad collection of VHS’ and vintage movie posters which hit you with a sudden rush of nostalgia.
Continue further into the store and you’ll soon find yourself in an adult video shop where R-rated images are displayed everywhere from the walls to the television screens. It’s intended that you catch a glimpse of something quite interesting, though it may not be what you had in mind. But don’t get too distracted – an entire nightclub awaits your arrival behind a mysterious curtain.
Guests are welcomed by high ceilings, an open dance floor, and a jammin’ DJ as throwback music videos project onto a wall. The drink menu ties perfectly into theme featuring house favorites like the infamous Grounds For Divorce (Woodford Reserve bourbon, lemon, mint, and a touch of yuzu bitters and apple spice) and the Clueless (vodka, lemon, honey, raspberry, cucumber and ginger beer).
When it comes time to take a break from getting down on the dance floor, head to the back room where you can chat it up over a game of pool without having to shout over the music. Daily happy hour specials include a punch which has a different recipe depending on the day of the week – talk about unpredictable!
