California is pushing hard for more affordable and environmentally friendly ways to move around, and train travel is becoming a bigger part of that shift. From major projects like the high-speed rail line planned to connecting L.A. with Las Vegas to special discounts aimed at everyday riders, the region is clearly betting on rail as a real alternative to driving.
Now, the commute just got easier, as the L.A.–San Diego–San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) Rail Corridor Agency announced a new 13th daily Amtrak Pacific Surfliner roundtrip between L.A. and San Diego. The new schedule takes effect January 26, 2026, and is designed to reduce wait times between trains and give riders more flexibility throughout the day.
To celebrate, passengers can score 20% off Pacific Surfliner trips using code V526 for travel between January 26 and March 13, 2026. Yes, cheaper tickets and more trains, no catch!
With this update, the Pacific Surfliner now offers 13 daily roundtrips between L.A. and San Diego, five daily roundtrips between San Diego and Goleta, and two full-corridor trips between San Diego and San Luis Obispo, bringing the route back to full pre-pandemic service levels.
The 351-mile route serves 29 stations and still delivers the perks riders love: spacious seats, power outlets, free Wi-Fi, bike storage, and a Market Café stocked with fresh food, California wine, and local craft beer.
