Grammy-winning musical artist Anderson .Paak is lending his creative vision to an exciting new pursuit in West Hollywood. Enter Andy’s, a new speakeasy-style music venue promising bumping R&B and jazz music from a live band, a tasty and innovative food menu, an intimate lounge environment, and even decor pulled from .Paak’s life and performances.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, .Paak envisions the venue as an extension of some spaces in his personal life. “It’s going to be a little like you’re in my home studio, or mom’s basement,” he said. “But with bomb-ass food and a top-notch sound system for the stage.”
.Paak, whose discography spans the genres of hip hop, soul, and funk, has been auditioning musicians for an in-house R&B and jazz band to bring the energy all week.
The project comes in collaboration with .Paak’s friends Mark and Jonnie Houston. They’re the brothers behind some of L.A.’s hottest nightlife destinations including Break Room 86, Koreatown‘s ’80s-themed speakeasy; and La Descarga, a Cuban-themed burlesque lounge.
You’ll find Andy’s behind a playful hidden entrance between The Troubadour and Dan Tana’s, masquerading as a fully functioning newsstand selling gum, cigarettes, and a selection of carefully curated publications.
THR also reports that the venue will showcase some personal mementos, photos, awards, and even the colorful fringed jacket that .Paak wore while performing at the Super Bowl 2022 halftime show.
In an Instagram video published at the end of August, .Paak is seen tasting some potential menu items to be served at Andy’s. There’s no official menu out yet, but we have our eye on some exquisite specialty cocktails, crispy fried calamari with Thai chimichurri, and loaded bao buns that riff on Langer’s famous #19 sandwich. “Food, beverage, live music, all we’re missing is you!” writes .Paak in the caption.
Look for Andy’s opening September 25th, 2024 at 9077 Santa Monica Blvd. in L.A.’s West Hollywood neighborhood.
