If you’ve acclimatized to the sunny SoCal weather and you aren’t quite ready for winter in Europe, then this cozy après-ski pop-up at Fairmont Century Plaza is your idyllic winter escape within the city. You don’t need to be an avid skier to enjoy the tidings of the Swiss snow-capped mountains this year; The Century Bar is bringing mouthwatering winter cocktails, fondues and wooden chalets to the heart of LA this season.
The landmark hotel has converted the outdoor patio into an alpine, winter wonderland where you can seat yourself in a luxurious, wooden chalet covered in plush throws and decorated with festive but refined decor. Each chalet can seat up to eight guests and in the true sharing spirit of the slopes, you’ll need a minimum of six people per reservation.
Your epicurean adventure begins with curated cocktails that reflect the cooler climate—and after slaloming through the stores for last-minute gifts, you deserve a refreshment or three. To dine on, there’ll be mains and starters which include options like a charcuterie board, a wedge salad, smoked salmon on potato rosti, croquettes, a rich oxtail soup and pork ribs with a side of sauerkraut. Then to complete the après-ski experience, you’ll have the option of a cheese or chocolate fondue.
If there are more sweet tooths amongst your group then you’ll be treated to a pot of warm French Valrhona Satilia dark chocolate with fresh strawberries. other fruits and marshmallows for dipping. If you choose for the savory option, you’ll have gorgeous high-end cheese blends with crusty bread, meats and vegetables to dip in. Of course, it wouldn’t be a winter escape without S’mores and a fire pit, so you can rest assured that there’ll be a tray lined up ready for toasting.
Reservations for this holiday pop-up can be made through Open Table between 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily. It costs $125 per person and you’ll need to cancel at least two days prior to your booking for a full refund.
