The Aqua Rocket at Raging Waters Los Angeles is the only hydromagnetic water coaster in California, offering an epic roller coaster-like experience on water that you’d be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. The ride uses magnetic propulsion to push rafts up to a 55-foot-tall launch point, which is followed by a whirlwind series of drops and inclines. Keep reading to find out more about this unique water ride in San Dimas.
Riding the Aqua Rocket
The Aqua Rocket blasts inflatable yellow rafts carrying 2-4 riders through a heart-racing water coaster route. The action begins with a conveyor belt lift that brings you 55 feet into the air, providing sweeping views of the park. Then, rafts are sent through a series of gravity-powered drops and magnetic-powered ascents, embellished with outdoor and enclosed sections, fast turns, and fast-paced action. It all ends with a big splashdown, making sure everyone on board gets thoroughly soaked.

While most water slides rely solely on gravity, the Aqua Rocket is unique for its linear induction motors, which guide rafts uphill as well as down. These “rocket incline zones” provide a rare thrill of being propelled uphill on water, varying the pace and route to recreate the head-spinning sensation of a roller coaster on water. No other water coaster in the state uses this advanced hydromagnetic technology.
Rafts can accommodate up to four people with a maximum combined weight of 700 pounds. Riders must be at least 42 inches tall to ride, and an adult must accompany kids under 48 inches tall.
