If there’s one unique winter pastime that gives new meaning to a coastal winter it’s beachfront ice skating. While the rest of the Nothern Hemisphere gears up with beanies, coats and other appropriate seasonal attire, SoCal residents get to glide around the ice with short sleeves and sunglasses. Where else will you get to have warm, glowing sunshine lighting up the sand and a salty ocean breeze contrasted with the coolness of the ice?
This brilliant tradition is usually organized by hotels and involves scenic views of waves crashing into the sand along with an array of charming festive activities to get involved in. Here are the two best spots for beachfront ice skating near L.A.
1. Paséa Hotel’s Oceanfront Ice Rink
In just under an hour’s drive from L.A., you could be swirling around Paséa Hotel & Spa’s ice rink with uninterrupted views of a surfer’s paradise. It’s the perfect alternative to ice skating on a rink surrounded by city skyscrapers without traveling too far. After you’re hour-long session, you get cozy around a firepit and sip on Santa’s hot chocolate and festive baked treats. For their 3rd annual holiday celebration. Paséa will also be ringing in the holidays with themed nights with everything from a Mariah Carey Tribute night to an evening of Ugly Sweaters.
