The Michelin Guide revealed its newly-starred California restaurants for 2025 at a swanky event in Sacramento on Wednesday.
California’s best chefs, restaurateurs, and industry figures gathered for the distinguished presentation, where nine restaurants were awarded with Michelin stars, including four right here in Los Angeles.
The standout moment was when the new West Hollywood restaurant Somni debuted with three Michelin stars, a rare feat in the culinary world. Here’s what to know.
Newly starred Michelin restaurants in Los Angeles
Of the nine California restaurants awarded Michelin stars yesterday, four of them are here in Los Angeles. Somni and Providence are L.A.’s first-ever restaurants to receive three Michelin stars.
Somni
Chef Aitor Zabala recently opened Somni (Catalan for “dream”) in West Hollywood. The contemporary restaurant features a Spanish-inspired tasting menu with creative bites like mussel escabeche and gazpacho. It’s rare for a restaurant to receive 3 Michelin stars off the bat, but Somni pulled it off in an exciting moment at the ceremony.
