SoCal has several major infrastructure projects underway to improve transportation and safety, not only for drivers but also for local wildlife.
One of the most ambitious is the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing, a massive bridge over U.S. Highway 101 designed to reconnect habitats in the Santa Monica Mountains and give animals a safe way to cross one of the region’s busiest freeways.
As the project nears completion, however, construction is causing traffic disruptions in Agoura Hills that drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians should be aware of to avoid unnecessary headaches.
101 ramps will face daytime closures

Caltrans has announced daytime shutdowns of the northbound on-ramp and southbound off-ramp at Liberty Canyon Road in Agoura Hills from Thursday, October 15, through Friday, October 30.
The ramps will be closed between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day to allow crews to transport construction materials and carry out work related to the wildlife crossing.

Here’s what to know before heading out:
- 🚗 Northbound detour: Continue south on Liberty Canyon Road, head west on Agoura Road, then travel north on Chesebro Road and Palo Comado Canyon Road to reach the northbound U.S. 101 on-ramp.
- 🛣️ Southbound detour: Continue south on U.S. 101 to Exit 33 at Lost Hills Road to access the southbound off-ramp.
- ✅ Agoura Road: Remains open to through traffic during these ramp closures.
The closures are weather permitting and subject to change, so drivers should follow posted detour signs and allow extra time for their commutes.
Agoura Road closure remains in effect
Separately, Agoura Road is scheduled to remain fully closed between Rondell Street and Hydepark Drive through Monday, November 30, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The extended closure allows crews to complete bridge work and backfilling operations.

During scheduled work hours, no through traffic of any kind will be permitted within the closed section. That includes motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. Weekend construction may also take place, with any additional road or ramp closures announced in advance.
