Across the state, art takes shape in many unexpected forms, from UNESCO-recognized cultural heritage sites to monumental desert sculptures that turn wide-open landscapes into striking visual statements. Within this landscape of immersive experiences, this glowing field in San Luis Obispo County is a must-see.
This May, Sensorio marks its 7th anniversary, celebrating seven years of light, art, and unforgettable nights. The celebration will feature a lively evening with local vendors, curated crafts, and special experiences designed to bring together community, creativity, and celebration in a shared setting.
Looking ahead, additional offerings are also in development, including Terrace dinner packages that aim to further elevate the experience under the night sky.
About Sensorio
Sensorio is a large-scale immersive art destination in Paso Robles, about three hours from L.A., designed as an open-air “art park” where light-based installations interact with the natural landscape.
The site opened to the public in 2019 with its flagship installation, Field of Light, created by British artist Bruce Munro. This piece covers roughly 15–35 acres of rolling hills and features more than 100,000 fiber-optic stemmed spheres, all powered by solar energy. The lights slowly shift in color and create a living, walkable landscape of illumination that changes with the night.
Since its launch, Sensorio has expanded into a multi-installation environment. Today, it features around seven core exhibits, including Field of Light, Light Towers, FOSO (Fiber Optic Symphonic Orchestra), DIMENSIONS by HYBYCOZO, Fireflies, Gone Fishing, and Woven Glow.
