There’s something about the holiday season that makes even the simplest places feel enchanted, and California’s most dazzling Christmas market leans all the way in. Every corner glows, and every path feels like a tiny escape from everyday life into the merry magic of Christmas!
A coastal Christmas wonderland
The Cambria Christmas Market has grown from a small community event into one of the most dazzling holiday experiences in the Golden State. It sits on the grounds of the Cambria Pines Lodge, a cozy hilltop hotel that’s been hosting the market for over a decade, 14 seasons, to be exact.
The main attraction is impossible to ignore: over 3 million lights wrapped around trees, tunnels, rooftops, fences, bridges, and basically anything that will stay still long enough. These twinkling lights cover more than six acres on a forested hillside, and a full walk through the market stretches nearly two miles.
But what gives the market its personality is the German-inspired setup, which includes wooden stalls, handmade crafts, ornaments, candles, soaps, and all the little stocking-stuffers you didn’t know you needed. There’s also a biergarten tucked under the lights, mugs of hot cider, classic bratwurst, and giant soft pretzels!
Santa pops in throughout the season, and the tiny train that loops through the lights is one of the most popular parts of the experience. Because of this, weekends are naturally the busiest days, which is why it’s recommended to reserve your spot in advance. Guests are encouraged to bundle up, especially for evening visits and while waiting for the complimentary shuttle that runs between the market and the various parking areas.
