Candlelight, the wildly popular musical series, is back in L.A. this October, just in time for the spooky season. This time, they’ve got three special events to help you ring in this ghostly time of year. “A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics” is an atmospheric evening filled with classic renditions of some of your favorite haunting melodies, and it is coming to three different venues: the Vertigo Event Venue, Ovation Square Long Beach, and Immanuel Presbyterian Church.
Experience a hauntingly beautiful evening with classical renditions of your favorite spooky songs at these candlelit concerts.
Think songs like Danny Elfman’s classic, “This is Halloween”, John Carpenter’s “Halloween Theme”, Bernard Herrman’s “Psycho Theme” and even the sinister classic by Modest Mussorgsky’s “Night on Bald Mountain” from Fantasia. All of these songs and more will be played by a talented string quartet in these three atmospherically chilling venues made even more ominous by a sea of flickering candlelight.
The Immanuel Presbyterian Church is an iconic K-Town landmark that has stood for nearly a century. The French Gothic Revival building is stunning, featuring a massive stained-glass rose window as the centerpiece of the building’s exterior. This classic cathedral’s columns, arches, and chandeliers are a beautiful match for the spooky Halloween classics and flickering light of these shows.
The modern Vertigo Event Venue is located in Glendale and is a cozier space perfectly suited to these strings. And with plenty of local dining, drinks, and shopping surrounding the venue, you’ll easily be able to make the most of your night out.
Another venue coming up on its 100-year anniversary, the Ovation Square at Long Beach is a two-story building with a wide-open feel. Whether you’re seated on the main floor or up in the balcony, you’ll have nowhere too hide from the eerie yet toe-tapping tunes from these wickedly talented musicians.
The first show (at the Vertigo location) will take place October 20th. The performance at Ovation Square in Long Beach will be held on October 25th, and the Immanuel Presbyterian show will run for three nights: October 27th, 28th, and 29th. Every concert has two performances, one at 6:30 and another at 9:00 pm. Each performance will last 60 minutes and doors open 45 minutes prior to showtime.
