Colman Domingo, star of the upcoming pop star biopic Michael, has revealed his favorite restaurant in Los Angeles, California.
The actor has lived in the city for a long time, only recently putting his longtime property in Downey, California up for sale. Foodwise, Domingo enjoys restaurants that are “really off the beaten path,” as he tells Secret Los Angeles at a press junket for Michael.
He names his favorite restaurant as Dal Rae, which he calls “one of the best steakhouses I think in the country,” just “twelve minutes south of downtown L.A.”
“I used to go there all the time,” says Domingo. “Go get some good food. Great steak,” he recommends.
His Michael costar, Nia Long, also named her favorite restaurants as Corner Store in New York City, where she likes to order an extra dirty martini and a Caesar salad.
The two actors play Michael Jackson’s parents, Joe and Katherine Jackson, in the film, which releases this Friday, April 24.
What’s Dal Rae?
According to their website, “The original Dal Rae was opened in 1951, moved to its current location in Pico Rivera in 1958, and is now long known as an LA institution.”
The steakhouse flies in aged prime beef from around the country, as well as the fresh-caught seafood from around the world. They also make menu items like the Caesar Salad, Steak Diane, and the Bananas Foster in front of guests at the table.
Beloved menu items include their famous pepper steak flown in from Chicago, Ahi Sashimi on Toast, Chilean Sea Bass Alla Ben, sautéed Santa Barbara abalone, and their many cuts and flavors of beef.
