Get ready to have fun, girls. Cyndi Lauper just announced her Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour for 2024. This will be the first major tour for the iconic singer in more than a decade. And she’s saying goodbye to her fans with a major North American tour that includes 23 cities across Canada and the United States.
News of the farewell tour came just before the release of her biopic called Let the Canary Sing. The feature-length film was directed by the Emmy-winning filmmaker, Alison Ellwood. It was released on Tuesday, June 4th on Paramount+. It premiered at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival in New York to good reviews that called it “celebratory” and “Pop Joy.”
And as if that wasn’t enough to get us excited about her upcoming tour, Legacy Recordings will also release a career-spanning album of Cyndi’s greatest hits. It will feature underground bops from her early career like “I’m Gonna Be Strong” on to her global mega-hits, like “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”, “True Colors,” and “I Drove All Night.”
The Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour arrives at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles on Nov 23, 2024. Tickets are already on pre-sale and full general ticket sales open this Friday, June 7th. Special guests on the tour will be revealed at a later date, but it’s guaranteed to be a good time no matter what. Start preparing to tease up your permed hair to new heights and break out your best iconic 80s outfit. We just wanna have fun, and Cyndi’s helping us do it in style.
