It can be Treat Yo’Self Day every day – once you know how.
French pastries and treats like macarons and soufflé always hit the spot, but they’re not always easy to come by. Luckily, you can easily learn how to cook these lavish desserts in your own home, thanks to the good folks at Bijoux Macarons in DTLA! Whether you’re crazy for chocolate or have a passion for pastry, the team are ready to share their culinary nous with you. Pick your indulgence below…
1. The Molten Lava Cake-Off
This workshop is led by Chef Vincent Guiheneuf, who will teach you how to make his signature chocolate lava cake (including the gooey center part we all love) along with one of the most classic desserts out there, a French vanilla souffle. Although these might seem intimidating to take on, this interactive workshop will take you through each step of the baking process to make sure your chocolate lava cake and souffle turn out just right (or as close to right for a first attempt). And of course, you can take your creation home with you! Go loco for cocoa and book your place here.
2. The Macaron Masterclass
One of the best souvenirs you can take home from Paris (or the BM store, of course!) is a box of delicious macarons, it’s the perfect treat for when you’re craving something sweet. The taste of meringue discs, inner-layer of jam or ganache filling that melts in your mouth is something to be savoured. Now you can bake your own colourful treats! Upcoming dates are March 24, April 7 and April 28: get tickets here.
3. The Pastry Party
The basic recipe of choux pastry can be used to make eclairs, profiteroles, churros and even more of your favourite desserts! We won’t sugar-coat it: choux is considered to be quite difficult to master, but with the proper instruction, you’ll realize that it’s actually quite simple. After the dough is in the oven, the next step is making the delicious cream that fills the pastry, followed by decorating them with chocolate glaze and caramel! YES. Don’t miss out – save your spot here.
