Disney World Has Opened Its Park Ticket Sales For July 1

And shopping center Disney Springs will begin a "phased reopening" on May 20

By Claire Leaden May 18, 2020

The happiest place on Earth may be reopening soon.

Though no formal statement has been made yet, Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida has opened up its purchasing system for park passes beginning July 2020.

When you go to buy tickets to the four Disney Parks on their website, May and June are completely blocked out, but tickets open up for day-of entry on July 1. Along with recent announcements that shopping and dining complex Disney Springs would begin a “phased reopening” on May 20, it appears that reopening plans are underway.

In the Disney Springs announcement they even said, “With that as our next milestone, we are eager to welcome back our Guests, some Cast Members and third-party Operating Participants with safety and well-being of all at the forefront of all our planning efforts.”

Disney World and Disneyland in California announced they would close to guests on March 12 “indefinitely.” As far as COVID-19 announcements, their most recent statement reads:

Upon reopening, theme parks, Disney Resort hotels, restaurants, attractions, experiences and other offerings may be modified and will be limited in capacity and subject to limited availability or closure, based on direction from health experts and government officials to promote physical distancing.

Disney CEO Bob Chapek even said in an interview last week with CNBC that they would likely be “requiring” park visitors and workers to wear face coverings (including cast members…imagine all the Disney princesses in face masks!).

So, when it does reopen, it might not be quite as magical as we’ve known it to be.
