The United States of America turns 250 years old this year, and the country is celebrating with all sorts of special events, from a coast-to-coast relay race to a giant Fourth of July concert at L.A.’s Memorial Coliseum.
In the spirit of America’s semiquincentennial, Disneyland is introducing a major update to the classic Soarin’ ride this summer: “Soarin’ Across America,” a new journey showcasing the beauty of the United States.
Soarin’ is a classic Disney theme park attraction that simulates the feeling of hang gliding over beautiful landscapes. Guests sit in rows that lift into the air over an 80-foot curved screen, creating a gentle “flying” experience complete with wind effects, scents, and a grand musical score.
The ride opened in 2001 as “Soarin’ Over California,” featuring scenic local landscapes, before transitioning to “Soarin’ Around the World” in 2016, which flies over global landmarks.
In fact, Disney brought back Soarin’ Over California temporarily in February, and you can still ride it through June 30th, 2026, orange grove scent and all.
“Soarin’ Across America” will officially debut at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim starting July 2, 2026.
Orlando’s Walt Disney World Resort is also introducing the new iteration starting May 26, 2026.
Soarin’ Across America
Soarin’ Across America will feature some of the most iconic landscapes in the United States, including the New England coastline, the Grand Canyon, and the Great Plains, all set to a new musical score by Bruce Broughton.
“Each scene helps to create a portrait of what we believe makes America so special,” said Tom Fitzgerald, creative director and chief storytelling executive at Walt Disney Imagineering.
“It’s a tapestry of urban wonders, natural beauty, and iconic locations that celebrate the spirit of the nation and the 250th anniversary of the United States.”
