Spooky season is already here, and that means scary costumes, pumpkin decor, and, of course, trick-or-treating! Los Angeles is gearing up for a major family-friendly Halloween celebration this month, taking over a downtown park for an evening packed with candy, entertainment, and festive activities for little ones.
DTLA Halloween Festival For Kids
The 19th Annual DTLA Halloween Festival for Kids is returning to Grand Hope Park at ASU California Center Grand on Saturday, October 31, 2026. The annual celebration has become a Halloween tradition for downtown families, bringing a little spooky-season magic to the heart of the city.
The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. and is designed especially for children ages 2 to 8. Unlike traditional trick-or-treating around residential neighborhoods, this festival features a dedicated trail with real doors for kids to knock on and collect candy without leaving the park.
Tickets range from $13 to $15 (children under the age of 3 have free admission) and include access to the activities, live entertainment, and a complimentary meal. Here’s what families can look forward to:
- 🍬 Trick-or-Treat Trail: Kids can visit decorated doors throughout the park to collect sweet treats.
- 🎭 Magic and puppet shows: Live performances take place every 30 minutes.
- 🪩 Kids Boo-gie Dance Party: DJ Q the Jedi will keep the Halloween soundtrack going.
- 🎨 Arts and crafts: Hands-on activities, complimentary face painting, and balloon twisting offer creative breaks between candy stops.
- 👻 Character meet-and-greets: Little ones can meet costumed characters and mascots around the festival.
- 🎪 Carnival games: Family-friendly games add another activity to the evening.
- 🌭 Dinner included: Each ticket covers a hot dog, chips, a cookie, and water. Vegan hot dogs are available upon request.
How to get to the DTLA Halloween Festival
Families can reach Grand Hope Park via Metro, with Pico Station a few blocks away and 7th Street/Metro Center approximately a seven-minute walk from the venue. Limited underground parking is available at ASU FIDM near Ninth Street for $10, subject to availability.
The festival’s last entry is at 7:30 p.m., so arriving when the gates open at 5 p.m. gives families more time to enjoy the festivities.
