Just in time for hip-hop’s 50th anniversary, the city of Compton has honored the late Eazy-E by renaming a street after him.
To celebrate, the city held a renaming ceremony on Wednesday, November 2023, to showcase the new street sign. Eazy-E’s family joined Compton Mayor Emma Shariff along with several other city council members at the unveiling to pay respects to Eazy-E’s contribution to the city and hip-hop.
“My father finally got what he deserves, a monumental street in the city he put on the map,” Eazy-E’s son Eric Darnell Wright told reporters at the unveiling event. “It’s a long time coming, but again, I always say it’s God’s timing.”
The street, now known as Eazy Street, is found off of Alameda Street and into the Gateway Towne Center shopping plaza.
