We all know the great In-N-Out versus Shake Shack debate, but now internationally-acclaimed culinary star Gordon Ramsay has weighed in.
The man known for reducing, erm, less than competent restauranteurs to tears and shedding a few of his own on the insanely popular ‘Hot Ones‘ show, has officially chosen a side. It turns out, unsurprising to some, that In-N-Out offers superior beef and buns, according to Thrillist’s interview with Ramsay.
Despite being good friends with Shake Shack owner Danny Meyer, Ramsay’s palate was unswayed. “No offense to my friend Danny Meyer of Shake Shack, but it’s an In-N-Out burger, all the way, ” said. “Especially when it’s freshly cooked and served Animal Style. Nothing better.”
While his unfiltered lambasting may not go down too well with everyone, it makes the multi-Michelin-starred chef a faithful judge. This isn’t the first time Ramsay has shown love to In-N-Out either. In a Reddit AMA in 2016 he shared, “My thoughts on the In and Out Burger, I wish that they were set up in London because if there’s one thing I miss flying out of LA, it’s an In and Out Burger.”
While Shake Shack die-hards will definitely have something to say about the matter, we think it’s finally safe to say that most of us aren’t just heading to In-N-Out to watch planes go by. There’s a reason behind those long lines.
